Dr Umer Latif Uqaili is an Emergency Medicine Consultant in the UK, providing senior clinical leadership in busy Emergency Departments — resuscitation, complex diagnosis, paediatrics and acute care. Making clear decisions under pressure, and explaining them in plain language, is the heart of his work.
He completed the foundation years of his training and practised for a good part of his early career in Karachi. He knows first-hand what patients here live with — long waits for a straight answer, uncertainty about what a result really means, and a quiet loss of faith in the system. He hasn't forgotten it.
